This is a well-balanced, muscular, strong dog breed. It's agile, alert and full of life. It's obedient and loyal. The Belgian Sheepdog is good with children but should not play rough housing or chase games. It may not tolerate other children. This dog breed is highly intelligent and easy to train.
May be completely black, or may be black with limited white.
Shedding is bi-annually. Its coat is long, straight and abundant with an extremely dense undercoat. Daily combing and brushing is important. The Belgian Sheepdog is particularly adaptable to extremes of temperature or climate.
The Belgian Sheepdog is prone to epilepsy, excessive shyness, eye problems, and hip dysplasia. To minimize the risk of your Belgian Sheepdog developing any hereditary health issues, you should buy a dog from a reputable breeder.
