Uruguayan Cimarron

The CIMARRÓN URUGUAYO is a medium sized dog of molossian type. It is strong, compact, with heavy bones, well muscled and agile. According to some, they are descended from dogs introduced by the Spanish and Portuguese conquerors of Uruguay.

The Uruguayan Cimarron lived in the country and bred among themselves. Natural selection had as a result that only the fitter, the stronger and more clever individuals survived. This is how the Cimarrón evolved to its present standard. The Cimarrón Uruguayo is used for guarding, hunting, and all dog sports in its native Uruguay.
