We understand just how vital the safe shipping of your dog is. Importing dogs to Qatar is a serious business, and it is important to get everything right. It may seem overwhelming and complex, with many import rules to follow. But the expert Euro Puppy team has all the facts for transporting a dog to Qatar.

While we know you would like your dog with you quickly, we have to comply with the regulations in Qatar, which are in place for the safety of your dog.

Before you check out our Dogs for Sale in Qatar, here is a summary of the requirements…

  1. An Import Permit is required from the Department of Animal Resources. This is needed to book the flight, and for customs clearance on arrival. It is valid for 30 days from issuing. It must be applied for in person by the new dog owner, and only when the puppy has reached 7 months of age. (We will provide full details for what is required to obtain this).
  2. Standard Vaccinations – Dogs must be vaccinated for DA2PPL/DAPPL (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and leptospirosis).
  3. Deworming is not mandatory but is advised to be given within 14 days before shipping to Qatar. (Done by Euro Puppy).
  4. A rabies vaccine must be administered at no earlier than 12 weeks of age. (Done by Euro Puppy).
  5. Furthermore a rabies blood test must be taken at least 21 days after vaccination. The laboratory report with a successful result (not less than 0.5 IU / ml) of this Rabies titer test is sent with the dog (Done by Euro Puppy).
  6. Microchip must be in place, and listed in the vaccination book (Provided by Euro Puppy)
  7. Within 14 days of travel a licensed veterinarian must complete a Veterinary Health Certificate for Qatar. (Provided by Euro Puppy)
  8. The vaccination book / pet passport must travel with the dog (Provided by Euro Puppy).
  9. Importing Dogs to Qatar must be done only through safe and secure manifest cargo as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. (Always shipped this way through Euro Puppy).
  10. The Minimum age for shipping a dog to Qatar is at least 7 months. This is because a dog can only travel 90 days after the drawing of blood for the rabies titre test. This is regardless of a negative result. As the Import Permit can only be obtained from 7 months of age, and allowing for processing time and flight booking, the usual earliest possible age for travel is 7.5 months.
  • Can you import dogs to Qatar?

    Yes, you can import most dog breeds to Qatar, but this is subject to regulations and requirements set by the Qatari government. These are listed above, and we ensure all are met. At Euro Puppy we stay up to date with import requirements to ensure a hassle-free process when transporting a dog to Qatar. Only 1 dog per person, per year is allowed.

  • Is an import permit required for my puppy to enter Qatar?

    Yes. You must apply for this when the puppy reaches 7 months of age from the Department of Animal Resources. We will give you all the information you need to successfully apply for it.

  • When will my puppy be sent to me?

    Officially, your puppy must be 7 months old before you apply for the import permit. Due to processing time, the earliest age on arrival would be 7.5 months.

  • Which breeds are banned from entry to Qatar?

    The following breeds are not allowed to be imported to Qatar:

    Afghan Hound, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Boerboel, Boston Terrier ,Boxer, Bull Terrier, Bulldog, Chinese Shar-Pei, Doberman, Great Dane, Japanese Akita, Neapolitan Mastiff, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

  • Will my puppy have to be quarantined?

    If all the dog shipping rules mentioned above are in order, then no quarantine is required.
    All dogs are placed in a special facility temporarily at the Hamad International Airport before clearing customs.

  • How much will it cost to ship my puppy to Qatar?

    Prices vary depending on the breed & size of the puppy, but usually fall in the 700-1200 euro range. When choosing a puppy from Euro Puppy expenses and services such as puppy crate, all health and shipping paperwork and airport clearance are included in this price.

  • Can my dog fly with me to Qatar?

    Only a relocation company, such as Euro Puppy, can book your dog’s ticket. You can travel on the same flight, but only if you book a separate ticket for yourself. Dogs can only be transported in the aircraft cargo hold. The hold is specially equipped and pressurized for safety and well-being. Your dog will be in a travel crate with space for them to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably.

  • Do you have partners in Qatar to assist with the import?

    Yes. We can help you choose an agent company in Qatar. They can help with all the arrangements involved in the documentation, arrival and customs formalities and clearance. However you must apply for the import permit in person. Everything required within Qatar following this can be handled by an agent if you wish.
